About Symposium Buzz
Most people don't want to check five different sites to find out what's happening in their city tonight. Big ticketing platforms have the arena tours and theater shows, but they miss most of the local DIY scene. Sites built purely for grassroots venues and bands to list their own shows solve the opposite problem: they launch empty and stay empty, because nobody searches a site with nothing on it yet.
Symposium Buzz does both at once. Search a city and get a unified feed: shows from Ticketmaster merged with shows uploaded directly by local venues and bands, sorted by date and time so you always see what's happening soonest first — this is meant to be a place where grassroots shows actually get found, not buried under arena tours.
Event coverage comes from ticketing platforms that already have national databases and accept a city, postal code, or coordinates as a search parameter — so the site works in any city from day one, not just wherever we've manually added listings. The part that takes real work, city by city, is building trust with local venues and bands so they actually upload their calendars.
Venues and bands get more than just a listing: a live calendar link and an embeddable widget for their own website — upload your shows once here, and use that data everywhere else too.
"Buy tickets" links go to Ticketmaster or the venue's own ticket link — Symposium Buzz never sells tickets or holds payment for them directly.

Venues and bands get a full, unrestricted free tier too (unlimited events, iCal sync, an embeddable widget, analytics, bio/website/social links). Symposium Buzz Pro is an optional upgrade at $12/month, with a 14-day free trial, for a nicer profile page (banner, gallery, accent color) and automatic calendar sync — it never buys placement in search or browse.
- How do you decide what shows appear first?
- By date and time — that's the whole algorithm. We don't sell placement anywhere on the site, in search or in the browse directory. A verified checkmark is the only thing that can move a listing up, and it's earned by proving the business is real, not bought. See our Commitments page for the full list of what we won't do.
- What cities does Symposium Buzz cover?
- Any city Ticketmaster has event data for, from day one — the aggregation works everywhere those platforms operate, not just wherever listings have been manually added. Self-uploaded grassroots shows depend on local venues and bands actually creating profiles, which is more of a city-by-city, real-world effort.
- How do venues and bands list their shows?
- Create a free profile, then either connect an iCal feed (most venues already run one via Google Calendar) for shows to sync automatically, or add them manually. Either way you also get a live calendar export link and an embeddable widget for your own website.
